I know I don't have time to commit to another MMORPG of any kind but I still thought this looked pretty interesting...

LotR hype

It certainly looks fun. I wouldn't mind trying to get a key just to play in the beta and see how it compares!

EDIT: You can even sign up a guild! (hint hint) I can do that if there is any interest at all from within our wonderful guild/alliance!

Not a friend of the Shire, are ya Osiris?

For anyone else... if you decide to fill out a beta application, make sure you list Servants of Fortuna as your primary guild of play!

May the Dark One not capture any other hearts but Osiris'. The Evil One has invaded SoF's domain already!

I've been looking at Medieval 2 Total War again. Just waiting till the New Year because of vacation days needed. Rome: Total War I played 32 hours straight the first day (damn end turn button, lets see what happens, I can quickly deal with that, is that a sunrise?...again) and didn't show up for work for a couple days.

NWN2 is neat...but that is more about what the community does for it in the long run that makes it so good.

I was curious about Star Trek: Legacy but it seems to be lacking. (it's been a while and I could use a good space explorer).

Mass Effect might fill that role but I think it may turn out to be a cross between KotOR meets Brute Force...I want ship upgrades and Wing Commander battles too!

LotR (both RTS and MMO) might work but the first didn't grab me with the same "no time to blink...hurts" reaction War/Star-craft did and the 2nd will need to stand up against WoW.

What else is there?

Halo3 is too far away, GRAW2 is off in the distance as well. Oh Huxley should show up sooner rather then later, and Galactic Civilizations II is around the corner. I have dreams that one day BC the canceled xbox title might re-immerge and that will happen at the same time Diablo 3 comes out just to torment me.

To be honest any type of game that scores 90% or higher and / or comes with eye candy has my full attention.

Geekily enough I saw that Steve Jackson was going to make some Fighting Fantasy games for Nintendo’s DS and thought that could be very neat, read and chose on 1 side, character sheet and dice on the other, bye-bye pocket protector...

Actually I might try Viva Pinata as well, just because beating small furry animals with shovels seems fun...I mean because it's so very different...

The Christmas Haul:

Final Fantasy III (DS)
Neverwinter Nights 2 (PC)
Lego Star Wars II (PC)
Heroes V (PC)
DDR Max w/gamepad (PS2)
Hand-me-down PS2 from Vyk's brother

So, enough to keep us pretty busy. Haven't had a chance to get really deep into any of them yet, but first impressions:

Lego Star Wars II: Totally awesome on the bigscreen. Finally a current generation game we can play effectively from the couch on our HTPC. Really well-made game.

FFIII: Very pretty graphics for a DS, but a pretty slow place and very old-school turn-based grind system might try my patience.

NWN2: Hoo-boy is this an ugly game. I haven't had much chance to play it yet and spend most of my time frustrated at the decidedly non-GW controls and shuddering at the hideousness of my character, but hopefully it's something I could get used to.

DDR: Fun. Difficult. Vyk's in love.

Heroes V: Sooooo pretty, and seems a good update to the franchise. This will likely replace the disappointing Civ IV as my strategy game of choice.

I really think that in about 2097503947603 more updates.... this game will kick assss!!!

The conrols are choppy as hell, I think they could at least clear up the graphics to make the game more appealing

I picked-up Medieval II Total War for $25 the other day. It's definitely got "just one more turn" potential but it also has extremely clunky controls/interface as well as some broken game mechanics. There seems to be a decent modding community out there, though, which will help over time. It's not worth full retail, but if you find it on sale at or below $25, it's a buy.

Picked up Metal Slug III on xbox for $18, it was so much fun. My favorite of the series.
Got my Wii yesterday and Zelda, haven't plugged in yet.
Started playing Final Fantasy XI a few days ago. Liking it so far.
My new monitor is in the mail and looking to buy a sound system to go with my projector.
My bank account will hurt for months... >.>

For those of you who have a Xbox 360, I recommend viva pinata. http://www.vivapinata.com/default.htm It's a really fun game. Oh and I'm waiting for Guitar Hero II on 360 as well. >.>

@ Beqx - Is it not worth holding onto the game (NWN2) to try it out once I get a better gaming computer? I'm debating whether or not to turn the game in and get something else or hold out and see for myself what I think about the game. Your thoughts (or anyone else who owns the game)?
