Saw this and came here to see it too.

A new profession is quite exciting too! Revnant.

Release in Spring I guess?

Yeh exciting development. And overdue. I think there has been a big drop-off in the playerbase (as evidenced in this guild!) and they needed to do something fairly drastic to re-engage people. New Living Story content alone is not enough.

So hopefully the future is bright!

PS Added you ages ago in Steam and you'e not added me back yet!

Yes certainly a good development.

Specialisations look interesting. I think there will only be one per profession to start with but I guess they'll be adding more as they add expansions, which I think is likely to be a regular thing i.e. once every year or two.

new profession (I knew there was a reason I was hoarding all those scrolls and books) looks good. I don't think we will get any further professions after this as there is now 3 per armour class. But I expect specialisations to make the options per profession increase and therefore there not be a need for a new profession. Hope they give you more character slots with the expansion.

They say the areas will be more vertical. I am not sure I like this as I hate jumping puzzles. Although new movement options with hand gliders should be interesting.

They'll be messing with character progression again. We'll see how this goes.

Guild halls should've been there from the start but good to see.

All rather good. I shall be buying it for sure.

My time at the moment is highly limited. Only logging in to get chest thing and harvest home instance.

a guildhall?
that is a big thing. yay for a meeting point.
now i have a place to sit and unleash the spam every now and then.
now all they have to do is also bring back Alliance Battles, and i would love this game.

lol.

PS: the only thing that will keep people coming back to a game is a good community.

the thing that interests me and ahs not been commented on is in the new mastery system.

when they refer to it they say that it covers thing like, lore, exploration, crafting and Building

Now this might just be some fancy way of crafting but it kind of suggestions something else.

The guildhall has to be built I think. now that could just be purchased and built by NPC when no one is looking.

I think I'll buy this and make a proper comeback for it, though I still haven't finished exploring the base game yet. I'll make it to 80 one day.

I would expect that the "specialisation" will replace the profession trait line with another trait line and change the profession attribute associated with it.

It might even change the profession mechanic entirely. But messing with the trait line would be enough to effect that change.

They killed the game for me with this new trait unlock crap feature of them. I complained to their support and reported it as bug that is how much it pissed me off.

As evidence of how bad it was, they are now changing it back.

I wll get this expansion but Im not expecting alot.

I have not experienced it so won't comment on whether it is bad or not.

However clearly they see it as a problem and hopefully their new approach will be an improvement.

we shall see.

GW2 has been good to me. I get very little time to play, but when I do there is something to do without massive waiting around.

I have this weekend just tried PvP for the first time. I find (rather unexpectedly) that I like it. Very rewarding too even if you're as bad at it as I am.

I don't expect massive changes and I don't think specialisations will be what we expect. But as long as it provides a reasonable amount of new content and a bit more development they will have met my low standards.

After 2 years (and I am still interested) they have earned the money.

Agreed - it was a dreadful mistake. So glad they are changing it back

They aren't "changing it back" they're changing it. If (and that is a big IF) they've listened to the 75+ pages of feedback on the forums and/or utilized some of the suggestions there, the change may be good. At this time though they'll earn my faith when I see and experience the new version as the current version of traits and the NPE have completely destroyed any faith I had in them.
