Question Worst character creation mistake?

Mine was making Noorn Ranger. Have never enjoyed playing her.

Really regret not making asura ranger. Yes I could make another... (I've made a second mesmer, which is asura) - but I'm not really into having multi-toons of same profession.

I really wish you could change race.

I made lots of mistakes with names which was fixable as I got change-name contract, likewise with changing look.

What was your biggest regret/mistake when it comes to character creation? (Be it name, race, profession, etc, etc).

I've never made a mistake which lasted longer than 5 levels. I basically would decide that I wanted a character with a certain class and race. I would then spend a day or two looking at the generator and deciding on a certain look, etc. A couple of days later I would go back and actually make the character. Then after I played them through the first heart and such. I stopped playing and waited a day or two and then went back and made sure I liked the look, proportions, etc. If I didn't like it or wanted to change something, I would go back, delete and redo the character. After this I would let the character sit for about a week before I went back and made sure I liked it.

I found that period of leaving them sit worked wonders for making sure I liked the race and look.

this makes me wonder if there is a consensus on which race everyone prefers.

Charr and Norn are down the list for me as they are a bit too large and feel slow.

Asura seem quick and make jumping puzzles seem easier. that could be just me though

Oh that's easy!

Asura all the way. Just ask Velvet, Ano, Wookie, me, among others!

Asura have problems with camera on walls other races can look over. I prefer sylvari and human first followed by asura/norn female/charr/male norn. I have at least one of every race and sex except for male sylvari. I really dislike the male sylvari and male norn models but I had to use a male norn for the name suggested by NS (Big Bad Bunter).

Not spell checking.

It's actually spelled Wookiee and not Wookie but I've continued to use it with one e since 1999 for the sake of consistency.

Likewise I didn't double check the name of my GW1 necro. Slivey Toves should have been Slithy Toves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jabberwocky) but once again I retain the misspelling in GW2 for consistency.

Always thought you had given your own twist to it, so to say.

Mine isnt so much of a mistake but more of an oversight.
As there are a lot of armours I like but are race/sex specific, most were introduced later on.
Or were unknown at that point, as nearly all of my characters were designed before / during beta.
But picking tiny Asura or huge Norn / Charr characters are certainly still a added handicap in e.g jumping puzzels.

So yes there are some things I should have done differently, though things are finaly falling into place now.

But it's easy to judge in hindsight, right.

Considering I've leveled well over 40 characters to 80 and have 9 to show for it, any "mistakes" I've made in creation are pure hearsay.
I do regret deleting my asura engi though, if ever were a race meant to be a certain class, that was it.
