Healing Power, etc.

Well it's been a year since someone had anything to say so I thought I'd pose this question.

When designing a build is there any point on building it round, healing powers, vitality and toughness?

those 3 are only going to make you last longer but are not going to kill anything by themselves.

I don't think there is any reason in GW2 to "tank" (i.e. be a damage sponge) so those attributes seem rather pointless in increasing.

The only reason I can think of to increase them is for the traits, but does that out do the damage out put of other attributes?

what are peoples views.

I know they are used for 'bunker builds' in pvp to sit on a capture point.

what also occurs to me is that most professions have an effect that can come off from a critical hit i.e. apply condition etc.

this makes precision a more appealing attribute than power.

if you go down the toughness healing route you have to select traits that offset the loss of power etc.

I saw a collection of test runs for healing power somewhere and it turned out that investing in healing power is useless. The only class who got that "max" out of it was an elementalist skilled purely only for healing.

Toughness does make a different and for precision you normaly take it to around 50% crit chance then u stop because it is better to invest in power from there. There is (reddit ??) a ratio for how u should scale crit chance and power. In general you never do anything wrong in raising power in GW2.

Your "healing" is in killing the enemy faster then he kills you.

There are some special builds (guardians and ele) out there for WvW where they only run backline and only heal where it can make a small difference. For normal runs it is useless to invest in healing power.

Interesting. I didn't know about the 50% thing on crit chance.

They need to have a re-think on vitality and healing power. Whilst it might not be viable for every profession I do think it should be the primary attribute on one of them.

need better information on build theory.

A shout warrior, a healing guardian, and a water elementalist are pretty much the only ones who benefit the most from stack healing power seriously. For all other classes, the benefit is exceedingly small and will require very long fights to outdo vitality in terms of personal survivability.
